Spirit
Tours was concieved as a collaboration between David Hardy
and Siebren Versteeg in the summer of 2004. Beginning with
a simple technological mediation of the driving experience
(see Spirit Tours 2004), the project has become a catalyst
for an investigation of the notion of journey, A concept that
continues to dissapear from a contemporary experience which
delivers and creates a demand for immediacy and consumability.
This conflation
of the physical and the virtual into a real time mediated
or abstracted notion of real is further explored as the project
continues to manifest into videos, installations, and happenings
which describe or sell the often unrealised event of a "Spirit
Tour". In addition a continuing portfolio of nostalgic
relics and merchandise build an ongoing mythology which manifests
both as motivation and detournement from the artistic preconceptions
of the collaborators.

2006
Future 86:
Inspiried by the discovery of an enourmous abandoned fiberglass
mini-golf course skull, Spirit Tours builds a monumental outdoor
interactive web based fortune telling machine at at Future '86
- a weekend art happening in the Catskills. In addition "spirit
beans" were produced as well as a unique series of '06
t-shirts and other memorabilia.

Frisbee Fair MIAMI!!:
Invited as part of one of a plethora of hotel art fairs, Spirit
Tour transformed their room into a temporary travel agency,
tye dye station, and gift shop while hoping to charter an official
tour.

Polvo:
ST's first gallery exhibition at a Polvo,
a non for profit space in Chicago.

Skowhegan Projects:
Spirit Tours convert the truck into a roving white wall gallery,
fill it with artwork from the camp, and take it to the Skowhegan
State Fair. Special thanks to Patrick Jackson for the Push-Ups.
